A new US skincare brand is trying to make prescription skincare simpler by bringing consultations, personalised treatments and ongoing support into one online platform.
Cottonball uses a telemedicine model that allows customers to complete a skincare consultation from home. A licensed clinician reviews their concerns, goals and skin sensitivity before prescribing a personalised treatment where appropriate.
The formula is then custom-blended and delivered to the customer, with ongoing support available through Cottonball’s online portal.

Seven Treatments
The brand has launched seven treatments targeting concerns including wrinkles, pigmentation, hormonal skin changes, dark spots, the under-eye area and the neck.
The formulas can include prescription ingredients such as tretinoin, alongside cosmetic skincare ingredients designed to support the skin barrier.
Cottonball worked with cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, founder of BeautyStat, and dermatologist Dr Mona Gohara, a clinical professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine, on its approach.
The brand says treatments can be adjusted when necessary, with customers able to communicate with their care team online.

Cottonball is currently available only in the US, with treatments priced from $198 to $234 for a two-month supply.
Because some of the products contain prescription ingredients, customers require appropriate medical assessment before using them.
