Big Xhosa Drops New Single ‘Wapheni Imali’ As He Signs With Asanda Empires

South African artist Big Xhosa is entering a new chapter in his career with the release of his latest single, Wapheni Imali, while also announcing a new management partnership with Asanda Empires.

The genre-blending track features Lwando and takes a playful approach to the familiar relationship conversation around men supporting and spoiling their partners.

Translated as “give her money”, Wapheni Imali combines Mbaqanga, Maskandi, Afro-soul and Hip-Hop, reflecting Big Xhosa’s willingness to experiment with different sounds.

Rather than turning the subject into a serious debate, the song presents its message through an energetic and light-hearted approach.

“I’m simply telling them to spoil their women and shower them with money and gifts,” Big Xhosa said.

From Viral Breakthrough To A New Chapter

Born Sesethu Myeki in the Eastern Cape, Big Xhosa first gained widespread attention through a viral diss track that referenced prominent South African rappers.

The moment opened doors for the artist, who has since worked with names including Big Zulu, Cassper Nyovest, Major League DJz, Robot Boii and Janta.

Big Xhosa says the journey has allowed him to build a career from music, while also teaching him the importance of developing beyond an initial viral moment.

He identifies a lack of financial backing and label support as some of the biggest challenges he has faced, but says his belief in himself has kept him moving forward.

“I believe in myself so much; I’m my biggest fan,” he said.

His partnership with Asanda Empires now marks the next stage of that journey, with the management company looking to help expand his music, collaborations and performance opportunities while maintaining his creative identity.

Talent manager Naledi Zibi said Big Xhosa’s versatility gives the partnership plenty of room to grow.

For Big Xhosa, the goal is straightforward: build a successful partnership and continue growing his career.

As for Wapheni Imali, his message remains just as direct — men should show appreciation to the women in their lives.
