Abu Dhabi, UAE – Bangladesh and Afghanistan are set to face off in a highly anticipated one-off Test match from 9 to 13 October 2026 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The encounter promises an exciting battle as both sides look to strengthen their position in international Test cricket.
Bangladesh will be led by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, with experienced players Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Mominul Haque and Mehidy Hasan Miraz expected to play important roles. The Tigers will be hoping to build on their recent achievements in Test cricket and deliver a strong performance against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan, meanwhile, will be led by Rahmat Shah, who takes charge as the team’s new Test captain. The side will rely on its batting depth and spin-bowling options, including wrist-spinner Qais Ahmad, to challenge Bangladesh throughout the five-day contest.
The two teams have each recorded a Test victory against the other in their previous meetings, adding further intrigue to the upcoming clash. With both sides eager to claim bragging rights, the match offers an important opportunity to test their skills in the longest format of the game.
The one-off Test will also open a busy international cricket programme in the UAE, with Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe scheduled to compete in an ODI tri-series later in October.
Cricket fans will be watching closely to see which side adapts best to the conditions and emerges victorious in Abu Dhabi.
