Cybersecurity firm ReliaQuest has partnered with OpenAI to help businesses defend against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks powered by artificial intelligence.
The partnership gives ReliaQuest access to OpenAI’s latest AI models, including GPT-5.5-Cyber and the CodexSecurity plugin, to strengthen its GreyMatter security platform. The tools will be used for authorised penetration testing, threat detection and vulnerability assessments, helping security teams respond to attacks more quickly.
ReliaQuest joins OpenAI’s Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, alongside companies such as Cisco, CrowdStrike, Accenture, Darktrace, Sophos and Palantir.
The move comes as cybercriminals increasingly use AI to automate attacks. Recent research by AI company Anthropic found that 67% of malicious users in its study relied on AI to assist with cyberattack preparation, including writing malware and planning exploits.
ReliaQuest CEO Brian Murphy said AI is transforming cybersecurity for both defenders and attackers, making collaboration essential to staying ahead of evolving threats.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company’s goal is to help organisations continuously strengthen their cyber defences as AI becomes more capable of identifying vulnerabilities and improving security operations.
By combining advanced AI with real-world cybersecurity expertise, the partnership aims to help businesses detect threats faster, reduce response times and better protect their systems from increasingly automated cyberattacks.
