The beauty world is mourning Olivier Echaudemaison, the celebrated French makeup artist and longtime creative force behind Guerlain, who has died at 84.
Echaudemaison began his career in Paris before working with major stars and fashion names. He later joined Givenchy, where he helped develop its makeup offering, before taking on the role of Guerlain’s Creative Director of Makeup in 2000.
At Guerlain, he helped reinvent iconic products including Terracotta, Météorites and Rouge G, combining classic French beauty with a more modern approach to colour and cosmetics.
His influence stretched beyond products, with a career that connected him to fashion, celebrities and European royalty.
Echaudemaison leaves behind a remarkable legacy in luxury beauty, having spent decades shaping how modern makeup is created, presented and experienced.
