Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
The legendary singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, following a brief battle with cancer, according to her representatives.
Parton enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades, becoming one of the most recognisable figures in music with timeless hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”
But her impact extended far beyond music. Through her Imagination Library, Parton helped provide more than 300 million books to children around the world, while her philanthropic work supported education, healthcare and communities in need.
She also built a successful business empire, most notably through Dollywood, the Tennessee theme park she co-founded in 1986.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment world, with stars including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Reba McEntire and Paul McCartney remembering her extraordinary influence.
