Kaizer Chiefs Slip to Third as Title Race Heats Up

Kaizer Chiefs have dropped to third place in the Betway Premiership after being held to a 2-2 draw by Richards Bay.

The result means Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are now two points clear at the top of the table, while Chiefs have dropped points in consecutive league matches after also drawing 1-1 with Sundowns.

Despite the setback, the title race remains wide open. Chiefs have shown plenty of attacking quality, but their defensive frailties are becoming a concern.

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen made an early error against Richards Bay, allowing Nqaba Xulu to give the hosts an early lead.

With their MTN8 campaign already over, the league is now Chiefs’ main focus before their CAF Confederation Cup commitments intensify.

The Amakhosi will need to tighten up at the back and start collecting maximum points if they want to stay in the title race.
