A new fragrance brand is making its debut at Sephora, with a unique approach that gives perfumers complete creative freedom.
Anecdotes by Artists will launch exclusively at select Sephora stores and sephora.com in the US on 14 September 2026.
Founded by Maesa’s Chief Blue Sky & Innovation Officer Dana Steinfeld, the fragrance house puts perfumers at the centre of each collection. Instead of working from traditional brand briefs, perfumers create scents inspired by their own memories, emotions and experiences.

Meet The First Collection
The brand’s debut collection comes from award-winning perfumer Patricia Choux, who has previously created fragrances for brands including Jo Malone, Nest and Marc Jacobs.
Choux has transformed three personal stories into the collection’s debut eaux de parfum: Wild Cousin, The Villainelle and Painted Petals.
Wild Cousin is a warm gourmand featuring rum-soaked cake, crème Chantilly, davana flower and aged oakwood. The fragrance was inspired by Choux’s childhood dislike of baba au rhum cake, which she reimagined on her own terms.
The Villainelle explores the idea of being misunderstood. Iced juniper is combined with vanilla resin, vanilla crystals and incense smoke for a fragrance that balances cool and warm notes.
Meanwhile, Painted Petals is a fruity floral inspired by a painting Choux transformed by adding more colour. Pink rhubarb, strawberry leaf, tuberose milk and jasmine absolute bring the story to life.

Fragrances and Prices
The fragrances will be available in 100ml bottles for $140, while a 10ml version will cost $30. A discovery set featuring 3ml samples of all three fragrances will retail for $18.
Anecdotes by Artists will initially launch in the US, with the brand yet to confirm a UK release.
For fragrance lovers, the new brand offers something different: perfumes that are built around the personal stories and creative freedom of the artists who make them.
