Bafana Bafana made it two wins from two in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after beating Eritrea 5-0 in Cairo on Wednesday.
Relebohile Mofokeng was the star of the night, scoring twice as Bafana Bafana took control of Group D. Yaya Sithole, Iqraam Rayners and Luther Singh were also on the scoresheet.
Eritrea hosted the match in Egypt because they do not have a stadium that meets international standards.
The hosts started brightly and tested Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams several times. However, Mofokeng opened the scoring in the 19th minute, giving Bafana the breakthrough they needed.
The 21-year-old midfielder struck again shortly before half-time to send South Africa into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Sithole added a third early in the second half before Rayners ended his own scoring drought for the national team. His goal made him the first South African forward to score in six matches.
Substitute Luther Singh completed the victory four minutes into stoppage time.
The result leaves South Africa five points clear of Kenya and Eritrea in Group D, while Guinea remain without a point.
Guinea have a chance to close the gap when they face Kenya in Conakry on Thursday.
Kenya will automatically qualify for AFCON 2027 as one of the co-hosts alongside Tanzania and Uganda. This leaves Bafana Bafana, Eritrea and Guinea competing for the remaining qualifying spot in the group.
