British beauty brand Romilly Wilde is entering a new chapter, shifting its focus from clean beauty towards biotechnology, molecular science and measurable skincare results.
Founded by Susie Willis in 2018, the brand has relaunched with a five-product range designed around the skin’s proteome — the collection of proteins that includes collagen, elastin and keratin.
These proteins play an important role in keeping skin strong and functioning properly. However, environmental factors such as UV-A exposure and pollution can cause oxidative damage to proteins before visible signs of ageing appear.
Romilly Wilde says its new approach is focused on understanding and addressing this damage at a deeper level.
“The beauty industry has spent decades optimising for what’s visible,” Willis said, explaining that proteomics can provide a closer look at changes happening within the skin before they become visible.
The new collection includes a Balm-to-Milk Cleanser, Peptide Longevity Serum, Tripeptide Antioxidant Day Cream, Sculpting Eye Serum and Bioretinol Overnight Rich Cream, with prices starting at £60.
For its Peptide Longevity Serum and Tripeptide Antioxidant Day Cream, the brand partnered with OxiProteomics to conduct laboratory testing using human skin samples.
The testing measured protein carbonylation, a biomarker associated with oxidative damage. Romilly Wilde said its serum counteracted 91% of the increase in UV-A-related protein damage and 91% of the loss of collagen I recorded during testing.
The serum also showed protective effects when skin samples were exposed to urban dust and UV-A, while the day cream demonstrated protein protection across the layers of skin tested.
Romilly Wilde is now available through its website, with the brand shipping to the UK and US. UK customers can also find the range at selected retailers including Healf and John Bell & Croyden.
