Beauty treatments designed to improve the skin can sometimes leave one area struggling for attention: the lips.
Retinoids, acne treatments, chemical peels and other clinical actives can leave lips dry, flaky and more vulnerable, creating a gap that traditional lip balms do not always address.
That is the problem Byorbe, a new beauty brand founded by Glow Hub founder Tiffany Salmon-Mills, is looking to solve with what it describes as the world’s first lip barrier system.
After almost 20 years in product development, Salmon-Mills said she repeatedly heard from consumers and clinicians looking for better lip care to use alongside intensive treatments.
Byorbe’s main technology is called Migration Protection, which uses a 15% concentration of polyisobutene to create a water-repelling layer over the lips. The system is designed to help lock in moisture while limiting the movement of strong active ingredients onto the lips.

The range launches with two products.
Lip Barrier Balm Daily SPF 50, priced at £28 (about R630), combines broad-spectrum sun protection with five ceramides, hyaluronic acid and panthenol to support and hydrate the lips.
Lip Barrier Balm Overnight, priced at £30 (about R675), is designed for nighttime use and contains arnica and calendula instead of SPF.
Both products are fragrance-free and dermatologically tested.
Byorbe says the products are designed to complement treatments including retinoids and isotretinoin, as well as being suitable for aftercare following procedures such as peels, laser treatments and lip filler.
The brand will launch exclusively in the UK on November 2, with products available through Byorbe’s website.
