AI Expo Africa will return to Johannesburg for its ninth edition on 28 and 29 October 2026, with responsible and secure artificial intelligence expected to dominate discussions.
The annual AI conference and trade show will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre, bringing together AI specialists, technology companies, investors, start-ups, government representatives and other players in Africa’s growing AI ecosystem.
This year’s programme will focus on Security, Sovereign AI, Agentic AI and Responsible AI, alongside discussions on data centre investment, the growth of neoclouds and Green AI.
More than 100 AI brands and 50 speakers are expected at the event, with participants able to attend eight CPD-accredited workshop sessions covering developments in artificial intelligence and intelligent automation.
Dr Nick Bradshaw, chairperson of the South African AI Association and founder of AI Expo Africa, said the event comes at a time when the AI industry has changed rapidly over the past year.
He said the expo provides an opportunity for local and regional technology leaders to connect, exchange ideas and explore business opportunities.
Speakers and participating organisations include representatives from Bowmans Law, Cassava Technologies, Clickatell, Huawei Technologies, Oracle, FirstRand Group, Nestlé, Netcare, Red Hat, Sasol, Zendesk and Zoho, among others.
The event is backed by the South African AI Association, which has more than 5,000 members.
Now in its ninth year, AI Expo Africa aims to bring together businesses, government, educators, NGOs, investors and technology practitioners to examine how AI can be developed and deployed across the continent.
