South African organisations can now access continuous facial recognition technology designed to verify a user’s identity throughout a digital session, rather than only when they log in.
Flownamix Group has introduced Continuous Facial Recognition with Liveness (CFR) to the local market, alongside Secure Enterprise Messaging. Both solutions are powered by patented technology from YEO Messaging.
The launch comes as businesses face growing concerns around identity fraud, AI-powered impersonation and increasingly sophisticated cybercrime.
According to the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), digital banking fraud incidents increased by 86% in 2024, while related losses climbed by 74% to almost R1.9 billion.
Security Beyond The Login
Traditional authentication typically confirms a user’s identity at the point of login. CFR is designed to continue checking that the authorised person remains present during the session.
The technology combines facial mapping, liveness detection and depth verification to identify potential impersonation or session hijacking in real time.
It also uses a privacy-focused approach, with biometric data stored on the user’s device rather than in a central database.
Flownamix Group CEO Leon van der Merwe said the technology could become increasingly important for organisations handling sensitive information.
The company is targeting sectors including banking, financial services, fintech and insurance, where stronger identity assurance can help support security, compliance and accountability.
Secure Communications
The launch also includes Secure Enterprise Messaging, which allows organisations to incorporate identity-verified messaging, voice and video calling into their existing applications.
Powered through the YEO Messaging SDK and YEO for Business, the solution combines verified identities with end-to-end encryption and enterprise privacy controls.
The two technologies can be deployed separately or together, allowing organisations to integrate them into existing security and digital infrastructure rather than replacing their current systems.
YEO Messaging CRO Christo Conidaris said continuous identity verification is becoming increasingly important as fraud escalates across financial services.
Available Locally
The solutions are now available in South Africa through Datanamix, SigniFlow and SMSFlow, with local support from Flownamix Group and YEO Messaging.
The launch follows a commercial agreement with ExSo, the African licence holder for YEO Messaging’s technology. Through the agreement, Flownamix Group has been appointed as a distributor within its territories.
As more businesses move customer services and operations online, the ability to verify not only who logs in but who remains behind the session could become an increasingly important part of digital security.
