Togo and Russia are looking to strengthen their economic relationship as the two countries explore new opportunities for trade and investment.
The countries recently held their first joint intergovernmental commission at the Palais des Congrès in Lomé, marking another step in their relationship after 65 years of diplomatic ties.
While trade between Togo and Russia remains relatively modest, both sides are exploring ways to increase economic cooperation.
The discussions come as African countries continue to diversify their international trade and investment partnerships.
For Togo, the focus will now be on whether stronger political relations can translate into meaningful commercial opportunities, particularly in sectors that could support economic growth and investment.
The outcome of future cooperation could also have wider implications for Russia’s growing economic engagement with West Africa.
