Discovery Bank has expanded its digital banking ecosystem to include cryptocurrency trading, announcing on Thursday that clients will now be able to buy and sell digital assets directly within the bank’s mobile app.
The new feature is being launched in partnership with crypto exchange operator Luno, following a freshly signed agreement between the two companies. Luno will serve as Discovery Bank’s crypto infrastructure and trading partner.
Bank CEO Hylton Kallner said the addition of crypto trading reflects the growing maturity of digital assets. “This move signals how cryptocurrencies are shifting from niche holdings to a mainstream component of investment portfolios,” he said.
According to Kallner, Discovery Bank customers will have access to more than 50 cryptocurrencies and will be able to view balances and transaction histories in real time within the app.
New Rewards Partner: DStv
Alongside the crypto announcement, Discovery Bank also revealed a new rewards partnership with MultiChoice’s DStv. Starting in the first quarter of 2026, DStv satellite customers will be able to earn up to 25% back in Discovery Miles, while subscribers to DStv’s streaming packages can receive up to 50% back.
