Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to face each other in the fifth match of the 2026 One-Day International (ODI) tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, 27 October, as both teams look to strengthen their position ahead of the tournament final.
Pakistan enter the match in impressive form after winning all three of their previous games in the competition. The hosts have already secured qualification for the final, scheduled for 31 October, and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in front of their home supporters.
Pakistan Look To Continue Winning Momentum
Pakistan’s recent performances have been boosted by strong batting and effective bowling. In their previous meeting with Sri Lanka on 18 October, Pakistan recorded a 37-run victory after posting 305 runs before dismissing their opponents for 268.
Salman Ali Agha was the standout performer in that encounter, scoring 107 runs from 90 deliveries to guide Pakistan to a competitive total. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi also made an important contribution with the ball, taking three wickets.
Pakistan further strengthened their confidence with a dramatic one-wicket victory over England on 25 October. Shadab Khan scored an unbeaten 113, his maiden ODI century, while Haris Rauf supported him during a crucial final-wicket partnership that secured the win.
Sri Lanka Aim To Challenge The Hosts
Sri Lanka will be determined to respond strongly after losing their first ODI meeting with Pakistan. The team has shown its ability to compete under pressure, having defeated England by two wickets in a high-scoring match on 22 October.
The Sri Lankan side will need disciplined bowling and partnerships with the bat to challenge Pakistan, whose recent performances have made them one of the strongest teams in the tournament.
Final Preparation Ahead Of The Decider
The match offers Pakistan an opportunity to maintain their momentum before the final, while Sri Lanka will be looking to deliver a convincing performance and build confidence for the remainder of the competition.
With both sides possessing talented batters and experienced bowlers, the encounter at Gaddafi Stadium is expected to provide another competitive chapter in the tri-series.
The match is scheduled for Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The result was not yet available in the reports consulted at the time of writing.
