Dubai is offering residents rewards of up to AED 3,000 (about $816) for inviting friends and family to visit as the emirate looks to revive tourism following a sharp drop in visitors after regional conflict earlier this year.
The new “A Dubai Invite” programme allows UAE residents aged 18 and older to nominate up to three overseas guests for trips before 31 October, with visitors receiving hotel and dining perks.
The initiative follows a difficult period for Dubai’s tourism industry after missile attacks linked to the US-Israel conflict with Iran dented visitor confidence, forcing hotel occupancy rates sharply lower.
Authorities have also suspended hotel taxes and removed some municipal tourism fees to encourage travel.
While airports, hotels and attractions remain fully operational, industry leaders say the biggest challenge is restoring travellers’ confidence and rebuilding Dubai’s reputation as one of the Middle East’s safest holiday destinations.
