Science-led skincare brand Epicutis has secured a $25 million minority investment (approximately R429 million) from GroundForce Capital as it prepares to expand its footprint across dermatology practices, medispas and luxury spas.
The funding will support new product development, scientific research and brand awareness, while helping Epicutis strengthen its presence in the professional skincare market.
Founded by Maxwell Stock in partnership with Princeton University biophysicist Dr Jeffry Stock, Epicutis takes a research-driven approach to skincare, focusing on proprietary and patented molecules rather than lengthy ingredient lists or passing beauty trends.
Its formulas feature molecules including TSC, HYVIA and DSD, with product development led by Masanori Tamura, a former Rohto Pharmaceuticals executive who also worked on Japanese skincare brand Hada Labo.
“Epicutis exists because we believed skincare deserved real science,” said Maxwell Stock, adding that the investment will help accelerate the company’s research pipeline and professional expansion.

GroundForce Capital, which also has investments in consumer brands including Liquid Death, Bobbie, OWYN, Vive Organic and Thistle, will join Epicutis’s board as part of the deal.
The investment comes as Epicutis looks to build on its growing presence among skincare professionals. The brand is currently available through selected clinics in the UK and US, with UK customers able to shop through Skinstation and US customers through Epicutis’s website.
Epicutis’s latest funding marks another step in the brand’s ambition to position scientific innovation at the centre of modern professional skincare.
