Tom Cruise brought Hollywood glamour to London this week as he attended the world premiere of Digger in a custom Giorgio Armani suit.
The actor walked the red carpet at Leicester Square Gardens on Tuesday alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, wearing sunglasses with his made-to-measure Armani look.
Cruise’s relationship with the Italian fashion house stretches back decades. He has repeatedly worn Armani designs for major premieres, including appearances during the promotional tours for Oblivion and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
The partnership also featured prominently during Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow press tour in 2014, when he wore different Armani suits for events in London, Paris and New York.
Armani’s influence on Hollywood red carpets goes back even further. At the 1990 Academy Awards, the number of stars wearing the designer’s clothes was reportedly so significant that the evening was dubbed the “Armani Awards” by Women’s Wear Daily.
For Cruise, the latest appearance comes ahead of the release of Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a wealthy oil tycoon who believes he can save humanity after triggering a catastrophe that threatens the world.
The film also stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons.
Other stars at the London premiere included Salma Hayek, Sophie Wilde, Hannah Waddingham, Emma D’Arcy and Jodie Turner-Smith.
Shot in the UK using VistaVision, Digger marks another major collaboration between Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki.
The film begins its international release on 30 September before arriving in North American cinemas and IMAX on 2 October.
