Metro FM is taking its 40th anniversary celebrations to Soweto with the Love Movement: Disoufeng Edition, bringing together generations of music lovers for a Sunday built around nostalgia, live performances and Mzansi culture.
The event takes place on Sunday, 27 September 2026, at Disoufeng in Meadowlands, running from midday until late.
The celebration forms part of Metro FM’s 40th anniversary year. The station, which began as Radio Metro in 1986, has spent four decades becoming part of South Africa’s music and entertainment landscape.
The Disoufeng lineup reflects that history, featuring Wilson B Nkosi, Paul Mtirara, Sentle Lehoko, Msizi Shembe, Monique Bingham, Vusi Nova, Mdu Masilela, DJ Young and Team Matured Sundays. Bongani Drama and Mish Mash will host the event.
A Sunday Of Nostalgia
The event is expected to appeal to different generations of Metro FM listeners, with a mix of established names and contemporary sounds.
For Disoufeng, the partnership also connects with the venue’s identity as a Soweto lifestyle and entertainment destination.
Founded by entrepreneur Tebogo Phiri, Disoufeng has grown from a pub into a broader hospitality and entertainment business centred on food, music and community.
The venue has also faced its share of challenges, including the Covid-19 lockdown and a major fire in 2022. It has continued to rebuild and expand, receiving recognition at the Soweto Tourism Awards in recent years.
Now, its Meadowlands location will provide the setting for Metro FM’s latest anniversary celebration.
With a lineup spanning generations, the Love Movement: Disoufeng Edition promises a Sunday filled with familiar sounds, live performances and the kind of nostalgia that connects different eras of South African music.
