SASSA Moves November Grant Payment Dates Ahead Of Local Government Elections

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced revised social grant payment dates for November 2026 to avoid disruptions caused by the upcoming local government elections scheduled for 4 November.

The changes were introduced after the original payment schedule raised concerns about grants coinciding with election day, which has been declared a public holiday. Following consultations with relevant stakeholders, the revised schedule was approved by National Treasury.

Under the new arrangements, older persons’ grants will be paid on Friday, 30 October, while disability grants will be paid on Monday, 2 November. Children’s grants are scheduled for Tuesday, 3 November. An additional payment day on Thursday, 5 November, has been set aside for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

SASSA says the adjustment is intended to ensure that payments are processed efficiently and securely, with minimal disruption during the election period. The agency has reassured eligible beneficiaries that the revised dates will help ensure they continue receiving their grants.

Beneficiaries have been advised to follow SASSA’s official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid unnecessary visits to its offices. Those whose grants are under review should respond to official notifications and attend any required appointments to prevent possible payment disruptions.

The revised schedule is an important reminder for millions of South Africans who depend on social grants to plan their finances accordingly and take note of the updated payment dates.
