All Blacks Mourn Sudden Death Of Head Of Security Logan Cadwallader In Scotland

New Zealand rugby has been left mourning following the sudden death of Logan Cadwallader, the All Blacks’ head of security, who passed away while accompanying the team in Edinburgh, Scotland.

New Zealand Rugby confirmed his death on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, revealing that Cadwallader died following a medical event at the team’s hotel on Sunday morning. The All Blacks are currently in Scotland preparing for their Nations Championship Test against Scotland at Murrayfield.

Cadwallader had been an important part of the All Blacks’ management team for approximately 10 years, travelling with the national side and helping protect players, coaches and their families. He was widely respected within the team and regarded as a trusted colleague and friend.

Although the exact medical cause of death has not been released, New Zealand Rugby confirmed that he died following a medical event. No further medical details have been made public, and the organisation has asked for his family’s privacy to be respected.

All Blacks head coach Dave Rennie expressed his sadness, describing Cadwallader as a valued member of the team who was loved and trusted by everyone around him. Assistant coach Jason Ryan also paid tribute, calling him a quiet hero who consistently looked after the players and their families.

Beyond rugby, Cadwallader had an extensive military background. He previously served in the New Zealand Army and the New Zealand Special Air Service Regiment (NZSAS), with deployments to Bosnia, East Timor, Afghanistan and the Solomon Islands.

He leaves behind his wife, Nannette, and their three children, Trey, Brooke and Mia. New Zealand Rugby has extended its condolences to the family and confirmed that support is being provided to them, as well as to members of the All Blacks squad and management.

His passing represents a significant loss for the All Blacks family, where he had spent a decade contributing to the team’s operations and safety. Players and officials are expected to honour his memory as they continue their tour of the United Kingdom.
