Kelly Khumalo has returned with new music, releasing her first single of 2026, Merry Go Round, following strong demand from fans.
Released on 4 September, the track marks a new chapter for the award-winning singer after her acclaimed album Rebirth.
A Story of Being Stuck
Merry Go Round explores the uncertainty of a relationship caught in a cycle, reflecting the confusion of a “situationship” with no clear direction.
The song was composed by David Matunda, a producer from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, adding another African influence to Kelly’s sound.
A Career on Her Own Terms
With 10 studio albums, Kelly has built a distinctive career spanning Afro-pop, gospel and jazz.
Her journey began with her 2005 debut album T.K.O., followed by numerous hits, awards and career milestones. Her approach remains guided by her mantra: “I run my own race.”
Born in Johannesburg, Kelly began singing in church and has credited her grandmother, a songwriter who helped raise her, as an important influence.
