Luther Singh and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Cassius Mailula are relishing their return to the Bafana Bafana setup after being handed another opportunity under new coach Pitso Mosimane.
The attacking players joined the national team camp ahead of a busy international schedule that includes two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and a friendly against Egypt.
Both Singh and Mailula have previously been called up to the national team but struggled to establish themselves under former coach Hugo Broos. Mosimane’s appointment has now opened the door for the pair to make their case again.
Singh said he remained hopeful of returning to the national team and is determined to make the most of the opportunity.
Mailula, meanwhile, said his belief in his ability never disappeared despite his limited opportunities with Bafana Bafana.
The locally based players have reported for camp, while overseas-based members are expected to join during the week. Singh and Norway-based Samukele Kabini were among the early arrivals.
Mosimane also confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe’s availability will depend on the results of scans after he suffered an ankle injury.
The coach has also added experienced goalkeeper coach Marcus Mashilo to his technical team. Mashilo previously worked with Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows and replaces Grant Johnson, who served under Broos.
With a new technical setup and several players receiving another chance, Bafana Bafana’s upcoming fixtures will provide an early test of Mosimane’s plans for the national team.
