Viewers can expect more mystery and suspense when Murder in a Small Town returns for its second season on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117) on 5 August.
The new season follows Detective Karl Alberg as he investigates a fresh string of complex murder cases in the picturesque coastal town of Gibsons. While the setting appears peaceful, each investigation uncovers hidden secrets that threaten to shake the close-knit community.
Working alongside his team, including detective Edwina Yen, veteran officer Sid Sokolowski and newcomer Andy Kendrick, Alberg must unravel increasingly complicated cases where long-held relationships and community ties make it difficult to separate suspects from allies.
Away from his police work, Alberg is also navigating significant personal changes. Recently divorced and settling into a new town, he develops a relationship with local librarian Cassandra Lee. Their growing romance is complicated by Cassandra’s deep connections within the community and Alberg’s efforts to balance his demanding career with raising his teenage daughter.
The series blends traditional crime investigations with character-driven storytelling, exploring how personal relationships can influence both justice and life in a small town.
Season two features the return of Aaron Douglas in the lead role, alongside Bethany Brown, Marcia Gay Harden, Savonna Spracklin, Fiona Vroom, Marci T. House and Joshua Close.
Produced by Sepia Films in association with Fox Entertainment and Future Shack Entertainment, Murder in a Small Town has earned praise for combining atmospheric storytelling with character-focused crime drama.
Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, 5 August, at 8pm on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117). New episodes will air weekly, with the season finale scheduled for 7 October 2026.
