Johannesburg pop group Dey Say is entering a new chapter with the release of its latest single, “Better Off Without You”, out worldwide on 7 August 2026.
The five-member group, made up of Jo, Dre, Fabian, Dean and Chad, turns post-breakup emotions into an upbeat message about confidence, independence and choosing yourself.
Built around polished pop production, catchy melodies and a strong hook, “Better Off Without You” explores the moment when heartbreak gives way to the realisation that moving on can be empowering.
From SA Breakthrough to International Attention
The new single follows Dey Say’s growing success since their 2024 debut.
Their breakout track, “Calling For You”, reached No. 1 on 5FM’s Pop Chart and entered Heart FM’s Top 20. The song also gained traction internationally, reaching No. 7 on the Philippines’ Magic FM Pop 30 and No. 12 on the Monster RX 93.1 Countdown Chart.
The group further expanded its international profile during a Kenyan media tour in May 2026, which included a performance at Nairobi’s Mater Heart Run, attended by an estimated 15,000 people.
Dey Say describe their sound as “A-Pop”, combining contemporary pop with elements of their South African identity.
As the group continues building its audience across South Africa, Kenya and the Philippines, “Better Off Without You” could mark another major step in Dey Say’s growing international journey.
