Looks like Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal saga is far from over—and now federal prosecutors are pushing hard for the music mogul to spend at least 135 months (that’s more than 11 years!) behind bars.
In a fiery new court filing dated September 30 and seen by Complex, the feds dropped a sentencing memo packed with “extensive evidence” they say proves Diddy’s “criminal conduct” stretched over more than a decade. They argue that Diddy “largely conceded his conduct” at trial, including allegations of “violence” and “bribery.”
The documents also include some heartbreaking letters from former employees who testified against the hip-hop heavyweight during the trial, which ended in a mixed verdict. While Diddy walked free from sex trafficking and racketeering charges, he was convicted on prostitution-related offenses.
“The sentence imposed on the defendant should reflect the substantial psychological, emotional, and physical damage he has inflicted,” prosecutors argued. They emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, the need for deterrence, and the importance of upholding the law—concluding that Diddy deserves no less than 135 months in prison.
Among the letters included was one from Cassie, who testified in court and shared a gut-wrenching account of her experience. She revealed she’s spent the last seven years “slowly rebuilding” herself, overcoming drug abuse she claims Sean Combs “forced and encouraged,” and struggling with “thoughts of suicide” triggered by the trauma she endured. Thanks to her family’s support, she sought professional help to heal.
“[Diddy] will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is,” Cassie wrote. She called for a sentence that “reflects the reality of the evidence and my lived experience as a victim.”
Diddy’s legal team, on the other hand, is pushing back hard, asking for no more than 14 months behind bars. They argue that his convictions should be overturned or that he deserves a new trial altogether.
The judge will make the call at sentencing, set for October 3. Until then, the music world—and the public—is watching closely as one of hip-hop’s biggest icons faces one of his toughest battles yet.
