The journey back to Barbie Land has hit pause. Despite becoming a $1.448 billion global phenomenon, a Barbie sequel is reportedly on hold as Warner Bros. Discovery negotiates new deals with stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Neither actor signed a multi-film contract before the first movie, and with no agreement yet in place, director Greta Gerwig is reportedly keeping her sequel plans under wraps.
Adding to the pressure, Warner Bros. is said to have until December to move the sequel forward before its Barbie rights could revert to Mattel, putting the franchise’s future on the line.
